Background Information:
Ahron Haspel is a partner in Jones Day’s New York office specializing in the corporate tax and mergers and acquisition areas. Prior to joining Jones Day in 2005 Ahron was senior partner with KPMG. He was a member of KPMG’s Board of Directors and Leadership Team and served as KPMG’s Tax Industry Leader for Pharmaceuticals and as partner-in-charge of a number of industry groups. Ahron, while serving on the Board of Directors, also served on KPMG’s Audit Committee, Compensation Committee and Pension Committee.
Ahron also served as the lead tax partner for some of KPMG's most prestigious accounts, including Pfizer and Icahn Holdings. He has significant experience in the area of mergers and acquisitions and natural resources. He has consulted on some of the largest mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, and partnership transactions to take place.
Ahron has co-authored tax articles dealing with mergers and acquisitions and other areas. In addition, he was the accounting editor for the quarterly Journal of Taxation of Investments, an author of Income Taxation of Natural Resources (Prentice Hall), and the author of the tax section of the mergers and acquisitions chapter in The Corporate Controller's Manual (Warren, Gorham & Lamont). He has lectured extensively at North Texas State University and the University of Kentucky teaching courses in mineral taxation.
He has lectured at various tax conferences, including the annual meetings on mergers and acquisitions sponsored by the American Bar Association/American Law Institute and New York University Tax Institute. He is active in professional, philanthropic, and civic organizations.
Ahron recently was elected to the Board of Directors of Barnwell Industries, Inc., a publicly traded natural resources and real estate company and is a qualified financial expert for SEC purposes.
