Fraud Prevention
Identity theft can be devastating to your personal finances. There are, however, a number of effective ways you can protect your identity and personal information from thieves. We here at Madison National Bank will do everything we can to protect your security. By following the tips below, you can help us protect your account against fraudulent activity.
Protect yourself from e-mail scams
Identity theft and Internet fraud are a common conversation today. Chances are, at some point you will be subjected to some sort of a “phishing” scam. Phishing uses 'spoofed' e-mails and fraudulent web sites designed to fool recipients into giving personal financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames and passwords, social security numbers, etc.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Madison National never asks confidential information through the Internet or e-mail.
We will never send e-mail which:
- Requires you to enter personal information directly into the e-mail
- Threatens to close your account if you do not take the immediate action of providing personal information.
- Asks you to reply by sending personal information or
- Asks you to enter your User ID, password or account numbers into an e-mail or non-secure web page
If you believe you have been a victim of fraud, please call Madison National Bank at 1.888.660.0900 or email us.

Additional tips to help you prevent fraudulent actions:
- Store your card in a secure place where you will immediately know if it is missing.
- Sign the back of your card as soon as you receive it.
- When you are expecting a new or replacement card, look for it in the mail.
- Report a lost or stolen card immediately.
- Never carry your PIN in your wallet or write it on the back of your card and don’t choose an obvious number for your PIN, such as your birth date or telephone number.
- Review your credit bureau reports regularly. This may be the only way to identify if you are a victim of identity theft.
- Keep a list of account numbers in a safe place along with corresponding customer service phone numbers and addresses.
